Plastic Tube inside fuel filling cap

Featured Replies

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what the clear plastic tube is right underneath the fuel filling neck? When you open the fuel cap & look directly underneath the filling (nozzle opening) cap there's a clear'ish round cap with a hole in the top.

Is this a breather/ventilation tube from the tank? I've pulled it out a few inches & it is caked in gunk on the inside & I'm wondering if this is the reason for my fuel gauge playing up?

Thanks in advance

I thought that was just a drain to let any fuel or water etc that collected there to drain away ?

Yeah it's just a drain for the opening around the cap.

Yeah it's a drain, just come back from filling mine up, overfilled it slightly so the fuel went down the drain! Only a few dribbles. It is also there to stop water from building up next to the filler cap when it rains.

That's cleared that one up then!

Thanks Chaps
