VRS went with a BANG!

Featured Replies

Dont worry it aint terminal - just the boost pipe behind the headlight went with one hell of a pop! Was at full boost accelerating up hill when it went. To say the pedestrians walking up the hill probably needed clean pants made me smile!

The metal clips at the end of the pipe have been chewed - so we flipped the pipe over and secured it with 5 cable ties!!! Anyone out there in FMIC VRS land have a pipe with good clips that I can buy - or does anyone know its part number and price???

With thanks!!

Just tell the dealer which one it is they will know.

I just replaced mine and cost just over £30.

Lucky I wasn't at full boost but it was just about to! Did make a lovely noise though and the smoke was funny.

I also went down the cable tie route but it kept popping off. I used rope in the end and nursed it to the dealer to pick the new pipe up.

Smogged the **** out of the carpark - which I found amusing! Nice to know the pipe aint too expesnive! The cable ties used are meaty buggers - doubt they will move. Gave it beans on the way home - no problems. So i'll just order a new one!!!

Cool. Mine were a bit sub-standard I think!

Yeh. My amusing moment was passing a friend with my foot planted to the floor going pretty much no-where with smoke pouring out... the look on their face was priceless.

None of the vag dealers near me carried it it stock and had to order it in but they are pretty quick.

£28.07 well spent - thats me back in the Fabia.

Just need to get the a/c sorted and the heater flaps resequenced

Mine went at 18k on my 2004 car - I used two hoseclips in series to make one big one, put that round and it was fine until at least the time I sold the car on 64k.

I do have a stock of stainless steel cable ties now which might be an acceptable and cheaper substitute.

I replaced the bottom pipe which is £80-90!!! Stealers really do take the mick.
