Rear Rattle

Featured Replies

Hi There

I have recently retired and bought my old octavia estate 07 reg to run until my Yeti arrives.

Just before I finished the offside rear brakes were grinding noisily and the garage fitted new rear pads first pads in 96000 miles.

There is now a noisy rattle which the garage has tried to cure but is very evident when travelling over rough surfaces especially with the window open!

The rattle goes when I slightly apply the handbrake.

Anybody able to suggest a remedy.

Cheers

Peter

They probably did not fit new anti rattle springs to the rear carriers. A lot of garages (if non main dealer) will fit patent parts and sometimes these will not include the springs in the box OR they are lazy b@st@rds and don't fit the springs. This can cause rattles. Probably wont affect the performance of the brakes so not a safety issue.

Or in my case it had springs except on one side it was left out through the opening.

Over bad roads it made a metalic sound.
