Oil Changes for Taxi's

Featured Replies

Hi, this is a question for all the taxi drivers especially those that drive a 1.9 tdi PD (no DPF); How long are your oil change intervals?

I previously owned a Honda Accord 2.2 iCTDI, on which I used to do an oil/filter change every 6k miles (using 5w30 semi synthetic Valvoline Durablend). However, with these VW/Skoda engines having longer intervals between services, I'm quite unsure of what to do. My engine requires oil meeting 507.00 specification, it would work out very expensive (nearly £50 for 4 litres!) to carry out the oil/filter change every 6k miles.

Check this as I believe that 507 is only for long life, variable servicing AND/OR for cars with a DPF. As yours is neither then 505.01 should be fine, although you are only likely to save a tenner or so.

Best bet is to check with your taxi chums who also drive VAG diesels and club together and buy in bulk from somewhere like Opie Oils (site sponsor ;) )

My mate is friends with a local VAG indy and is getting me 5ltrs of 505.01 for £25 - have to provide own container though.

I change mine every 10K on my cab and buy 5 liters from halfords, around £32, as I need a half litre top up in between

Thanks for the link, much appreciated. Was your Caddy a Taxi?

no used as a valeting van but as i said done 20k a year and was a solid engine i loved it so easy to service too.

set to fixed intervals. thats every 10k/12 months i think.
