New discs for Octavia Tdi

Featured Replies

I have an elegance Tdi 2001 model. Since having the car from new, the front discs had to be replaced under manifacturers warranty after only 6000 miles. Since then replaced discs have done 44,000 miles but are now showing signs of wear. Could anyone advise whether to buy discs from Skoda or any other parts manifacturer plus break pads to go with it.

Many thanks

I buy mine from GSF (German, Swedish French Parts).

Google for GSF

good quality and pukka quality: free delivery over a certain price

Cheaper than anyone else I've found so far

Hmmmm......

Have a similar issue, discs and pads changed at 13000 miles under warranty due to brake judder.

Have only done 3000 miles and started to get judder again. :(

Have a service coming up in a few weeks so I'll ask them to have a look then.

Cheers

Mine started juddering at 2000 miles - at first I thought 'warped discs' but couldn't believe they would warp after that little use but it looks like I was right then!

  • 4 weeks later...

I have the same juddering discs 4k after replacment on my 98T SLX Octy. Is there a better brand of discs outh there or is the problem in the car?

Check the wheels are balanced.

I had my brake disks replaced on an AX and the problem turned out to be one of the balance weights had fallen off.

Had new tyres about 2k ago, The juddering has come since then but I can`t see any lost lead. Seems ok at speed too (when I get there, see my other thread). Skoda dealers act like its the first time they have heard of it!
