fabia 1 stop light..

Featured Replies

oops..whilst replacing the brake light the other day I failed to notice that when I took it out the clip that holds it in place had bent so when I fitted the new bulb and put the unit back the bulb fell out into the light fitting.

I have bent it back in place and fitted a futher new bulb but there is a perfectly good bulb rattling around in the light fitting, I feel a complete numpty for not checking the fitting before refixing it ..I don't need replies to confirm numpty status!

Can anyone give advice as to how I may get the bulb out of the light fitting without breaking both the bulb and the light fitting??

Thanks

Magnet in through the hole and touch the metal end(obviously)and wiggle the bulb back out or the good ole shake it till it drops back through?

Thanks for that, just got to find a magnet that will do the trick..1) fit through the hole and 2) hold the bulb..

If not the actual unit itself shouldn't be difficult to remove so you can get it out. Will probably be easier that way in the long run and minimise potential for further damage.

the magnet was not strong enough, but taking the light fitting off did the trick..bit tricky getting to two of the bolts but got there in the end and all good.

Easier than tipping the car upside down and giving it a shake

Straws, a ton of sellotape, and a small fridge magnet (which turned out to be useless as the bulb base wasn't magnetic); I've never felt more like Valerie Singleton in my life!

excellent should have thought of the 'outside the box and roll of sellotape' approach to car maintenance

cheers
