Coughing under load

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just collected a 130L on an E plate genuine 2,590 miles. Its been overhauled and re-commissioned having being stood for a while. I am using 97 Ron and it ticks over lovely, runs lovely up to 40mph and then coughs and splutters and won't accelerate smoothly. I am putting it down to sludge dragged up from the tank, though was empty when I filled it. Any advice??

Am posting pictures soon!!

Cheers

It could be crud etc. It could also be an HT misfire. Check the points for pit and pile. If you've got it, replace the condensor and points.

If you've not, or if symptoms persist, check the HT leads condition, interior of dissie cap, and cleanness of coil.

B) I really want to see this car!

Try using the choke....if it improves with using the choke it's most likely a fuel system [carb] blockage.
