From 1.2 to a diesel

Featured Replies

Hi All

1st post here, so be nice to me :)

Just sold my 1.2 petrol fabia after 8 years of owning it from new. So i want a diesel next! Will i notice a big change in easier overtaking going to the 1.4 TDI ? Or should i go for the 1.9 TDI. Questions Questions... Also i want the 3 as it has more ''toys'' with it.

Thought i would ask your expert advice

I've just gone in the oppostie direction, a 2.0 Octavia to a 1.2 Yeti. I have only ever driven the 1.2 Fabia (ie the non TSI one) as a courtesy car so not extensive experience but the difference between that and a diesel is huge. But then the difference between your 8 year old fabia and the 1.2 tsi in the current cars is massive too. I actually find the current 1.2 has more oomph than my wife's 9 year old 1.9 tdi Audi A3. It doesn't make sense on paper but there you go.

Can't help you with views on the Fabia diesels I'm afraid but thought I'd share such thoughts as I do have

As you might have read on a different thread, yesterday we ordered a Monte :) Slow me, realised that we can get a new car with Motability!;)

excellent, hope you enjoy it. I've not had a look at one but my dealer was raving about how good they are

I owned a PD100 mk1 Fabia and that was very nippy indeed; having driven a 1.2 12v Fabia too, the different is night and day between them.
