Rear Wiper has a mind of it's own

Featured Replies

Almost 4 months and 5000 miles in to my love affair with my estate and the lunatic rear wiper was finally dragged before the dealer today to confirm that it SHOULD NOT randomly execute a double wipe when I turn on the "ignition".

Not every time. Not very day. But sometimes every time all day. Sometimes it behaves and stays off when I leave all the switches off. Annoying when you have a dusty rear window and the dry screen, dry blade, grit combination does wonders for both the blade and glass. Not!

:swear:

So it's booked in for a few weeks hence when I'm next free and the dealer has a working diagnostic black box. We'll see!

Had the same problem. Switched off the 'rear wipe when wipers are on' in the computer and this seemed to sort it.

Car spent a few a hours in dealer's workshop today but they failed to diagnose and fix the problem with the wayward rear wiper. So Skoda central technical support have been asked for advice on curing the problem. Meanwhile, the crazy wiper continues to annoy me AND scratch the rear screen and damage the blade by making a return sweep almost every time I turn the car on. This is gonna cost Skoda a new screen and wiper if this keeps going. Not good.

Have they not replaced the motor as yet? Be the first thing I would try if nothing obvious turned up in diagnostics, which tbh is doubtful anyhow.

Does anybody has issues with noise of rear wiper? It is unpleasantly "cheap" noise... I've bought recently Fabia and it does sound same. I did expect that on Fabia as much other things are heard, so that noise don't stand out. But in Superb it is kind annoying...

Can't say I've even heard mine running.

No problem with the noise on mine too. My only gripe is that with angle of screen, wiper position & design there is not an even pressure on the screen and so it doesn't wipe efficiently.

Mine did an unexpected wipe when I started it on Friday. It occurred to me that it might have something to do with the 'park' position of the wiper. If the wiper is not properly in its park position, could this initiate a wipe in order to properly put it in its rightful place? I had previously been into the boot and closing the tailgate might have nudged the wiper arm away from its park position. Just a thought...
