Cam belt change

Featured Replies

I own a 18t VRS Octi on a 02 with 97k on the clock had the car a few months now and love it to bits. As I bought the car with no service history at all going to get the cam belt and water pump done next week. Got a quote from a mate who can get me genuine vag parts, £59 + vat for timming belt kit £57 + vat for water pump but get £30 back of old one, and got a qoute for £100 for it all to be fitted, it seems to be a very good price to me, is there anything else that should buy and be changed at the same time as the cam belt and pump is done?

I think some engine mount bolts are meant to be changed too. If you trust your mate to do a good job, then the price sounds good.

The bolts MUST be changed as they are stretch bolts.

Oh, and don't forget you will need some G12++ coolant. Watch out for air locks ;-)

Will replace engine mount bolts to and I think I will get a new aux belt might as well get it all done at the same time. The mecanic who is doing the job is very good, he did a dual mass fly wheel and clutch on my last car a Mondeo tdci and he did a fantastic job, and didnt charge the earth to do it
