New Car

Featured Replies

After previously owning an Octavia Elegance 1.9TDI (110) and unfortunately being written off in the middle of a pile up i had to save up for a car to get me from A - B which happened to be a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 Sri. However as being a young driver insurance isn't cheap and being Third Party Fire and Theft means i still haven't been payed out after a year as the claim is still in debate. I decided to go fully comp on the Corsa which happened to be a silly £2100! after driving it for 3 months it just feels plain and not a lot to offer in comparason to the Octavia as it had all the extras. The car was handed down to me from my dad at a bargain price of £800 and was a great car, never went wrong even with 205k miles on the clock and on original clutch. however he got a new octavia vrs diesel and i thought it was a great car as it has so much power to offer but yet good economy well if driven easy.

Last week i popped down to my closest Skoda Dealer at 15miles away (Walthamstow) and saw a cracking little Fabia VRS in silver 55 plate. It had the lovely leather seats and electric sunroof however the alloys were in a state so i spoke to the dealer and said i was interesed in finance so first of all went for a credit check and got an impressive 2.9% deal so not bad at all. I said to them if they sort the wheels out ill have the car which they said was no problem. I placed my order and had to wait a week which is kinda long but would rather have everthing sorted and be happy. as the week was going on i kept thinking is 130bhp gonna be alot as the 110bhp octavia wasn't exactly a nippy motor and nor fast.

Yesterday came along and i couldn't wait to get the car however i didn't finish work till 4pm so the wait seemed much longer. I got down to the dealer at 4:30 and saw the car and they done a brilliant job on the wheels (look brand new) and the car was fully valeted as well! received such great service from the dealership and as i was about to drive off they came over with a big bunch of flowers which was very nice however as being a boy i gave them to my mum (girlfriend wasn't impressed)

As soon as i got in the car i was driving nice and easy put putting my foot down a tad every so often and could feel that the vrs wanted to unleash its power so as you can imagine on the roads home which i knew very well had a little bit of fun and couldn't believe the torque this thing produces. It chucks you back! Took some friends out in the evening to Lakeside along with other bunch of mates in their cars and they were very impressed with how well the motor goes! best thing is as my friends were achieving 15-20mpg i was hitting 35-41mpg! on way home was also impressed how every gear pulls including the 6th gear. Motorway driving is a breeze!

The first thing i noticed the car does attract alot of attention and a lot of people try to race you, even in little fiesta 1.25's or 1.4's which is pretty stupid. Overall am a very happy owner however would loved to have seen a climate control unit like in my previous skoda and also rear electric windows.

Welcome Aboard!

35-41 mpg? You must have been ragging it

35-41mpg im guessing isn't normal figures then? i was having a bit of fun tbh but will be giving it nice slow runs to see what i can get. Also after giving it a bit of a hard run do you recommend letting the engine idle for a minute before turning off to be easy on the turbo?

Lowest average I've ever managed is 35, and that was absolutely thrashing the living hell out of it. Even on a "normal" hard run it averages 40+ :)

Good choice, I had 1 for 2 years and it put a smile on my face everytime I drove it. Welcome and happy driving
