but why wont they cover it n warranty when its standard part of car that's whats p***ed me off!!

Think thats bad, my dads new superb chrome trims are going white and they aint covered by warranty! Apparently theres a bulletin sayin its caused by acid rain and warranty wont pay for it! Awesome for a new car eh?

This is in the wrong forum really.

It's Fabia 1 vRS that suffer from this.

This year has seen many, many Mark 1 Fabias suffer this problem, mine included.

Been asking myself why it seems to have shown itself so prevalently this year??

My theory is that it has something to do with the super cold spell we had

at the tail end of 2010.

I think contraction due to the -10 ambient temperature has caused the laquer

to separate from the plastic. ie the plastic shrunk in the cold but the

laquer didn't leaving a very fine gap. Add water via a weakspot/stonechip

in the laquer= bubbling laquer after that it's just a matter of time

until it comes off completely.

I think this is why age isn't an issue with this problem.

53-07 seems to be having the problem, despite how well they

have been waxed and protected etc.

Most cars will have sat outside in that awful weather

so will be affected to some degree.

That's my theory anyway.

And for the record, Skoda UKs position on this is deplorable.

Yep same problem.....2007 VRS Se owned from new...full dealer service history etc etc....and Skoda are politely disinterested. The only answer I am informed is the small claims court. But in reality paint should last more than 4 years. Maybe Skoda need a lesson from Kia and the 7 year warranty???

You might find some more information on this in the MK 1 topic as I'm not aware of this being a common fault with MK 2's yet
