Knocks and Creeks

Featured Replies

Recently I have been dealing with knocks and creeks coming from underneath the front of my car. After inspection, I replaced :-

2 suspension arms

2 tracks rod ends off side and nearside

The problem now is that 99.5% of the knocking and banging has gone including the creeks but everynow and then whilst braking there is still a slight knocking sound. It is not a series of knocks its just one "thud" whilst braking".

I have checked for play in the steering and there is none so this suggests that the steering column and steering rack are fine. The drop links are in good condition so i am thinking that the brake pads on the off side disk are sticking. Maybe the knocking is the pads releasing from the disk itself. Could I be looking at a piston within the caliper sticking or is there something else I may have overlooked?

Cheers

Spring broken

shock buggered?

Might be any one of them mate.

Are the top mounts right at the top of the struts in the engine bay? So no one thinks it's a piston sticking?

The brake disc would be blued from the heat if a pad was rubbing wouldn't it?

It would be I guess.
