Dealer Sticker

Featured Replies

What's the best way to unstick that lovely dealer sticker from my rear window?

New rear window? :D

Try giving it a once over with a hair dryer to soften it up and peel it off.

If its ove any on the heating elements of the rear screen dont be tempeted to scrape it off. If its on a plain piece of glass then a scraper with a stanley blade in it works very well to lift it off.

I asked the dealer to remove it, they also removed the one they put on the bodywork. Just say politely that you don't wish to advertise them free of charge! They were fine about it. Its not that I don't like the dealer, I just prefer a clean look...

Luckily for me I knew the dealer was likely to put a sticker on the bodywork so I requested the didn't when I ordered and they actually listened. Same thing for my dad too.

Whoever thought of bodywork sitckers for dealers deserves to be taken outside and shot - not a good idea.

Mine was over the heating element, used a sponge and boiling water (with a very fetching marigold glove on :P ) and softened the adhesive that way. Used the SWMBO's Nail varnish remover to clean any remnants of glue off. Just got my 'Briskoda' Sticker in the back now

Penknife, pick the edge then lift SLOWLY ,

The hairdryer works easiest IMO. I removed all the stickers from my Furby over the weekend. The dealer sticker in the rear window virtually fell off in my hands once it was warm enough, and didn't leave any glue residue at all.

Mine came off quite easily, just peeled back slowly until it was off and then cleaned the edge glue marks with some windolene and a piece of material...

Did anyone else have one of those "It's a Skoda, honest" transfers on - I assume they've stopped doing that now. It was an absolute nightmare to get off it took hours! Like everyone has said why would you want to advertise them for free?!

Nope, I didn't have one of those.

I had :

Dealer sticker on rear window

"Alarm fitted" sticker on each rear quarter

Huuuuge tax disc holder

Alarm sticker on windscreen

AA cover sticker on w/s

3"x2" clear warning thing on w/s

1.5" round Scotchgard-type sticker on w/s

Too many for my liking, so they're all gone :)

Yep! I decided to take mine off when I bought the car 2nd hand, so it had been on the window for almost 3 years! You can still make out some of residue if you look really closely, but the bulk of it came off without too much of a struggle ;)

Chris

Sooner you remove them on a new car the easier stickers will come off. If it's been on there a while, scrap off then get some solvent on the top to remove adhesive followed by glass cream polisher and it'll be like erm, never any sticker in the first place.

Me too.Took ages to get the individual letters off. Thought I had done a mighty fine job until the rear window steamed up one day and ghostly lettering appeared.Buggrin thing

I had OCTAVIA 4X4 in massive letters over the back screen. It was done in the same stuff as "Its a Skoda, Honest". Made dealer take it off.... only trouble is; everytime we steam up it reappears and the lowest three heating elements where it was now dont work, so guess dealer broke the elements taking it off.

After losing three elements i've left the dealer sticker in back screen, dont want to risk losing anymore.

You can buy brush-on repair stuff for about a tenner to repair heating elements... just mask along both side of the element, brush the magic paint mini paint brush over where you think (or know) the contact break is, and ta-da, your windows will be fog free again. Woo hoo! Costs about a tenner though but cheaper than a new screen.

Thanks, take it perhaps halfrauds sell this stuff??

How about getting that fixed under warranty?!

If you ask for a sticker to be removed that should not be over the heating element(s) in the first place as it will heat up a lot more 'under cover' and as a result of that the element gets damaged, it is IMHO the dealers job to sort it free of charge.

Had a call from my dealer today after asking for it yesterday (they said they'd ring me back probably today so that's cool) and I intend to get those details sorted out before I accept the car at our agreed price.

It is on my contract the car will be debadged from the rear before I accept it too. It's just one of those things, the dealer name will be on the plates anyway if I'm not mistaken. In principle I'm not happy about 'free advertising' but that's a compromise I am prepared to live with ;)

Things covering up my windscreen or rear window annoy me. The tax disc is a legal requirement, so that's gonna stay. The other stickers will be moved out of my view, pretty much :D

For the same reason I would never put a Briskoda.net 'banner' sticker in my car. The tax disc holder has it on though ;)

Perhaps... one example is Comma Electrocure at about

I took the dealer sticker off the day after I got the car - it just peeled off.

If And When U Do Get The Sticker Off, If There"s Any Glue Left On The Glass Wd40 Will Get It Off.

The Octavia Owner's Manual has this warning on page 123:

'Models fitted with all-wheel drive:

The adhesive sticker for identifying 4X4 models on the rear window must only be removed by a Skoda Dealer using a special technology otherwise the rear window might be damaged.'

In your case the dealer damaged the window and should replace it. I managed to remove my 4X4 turbo sticker using a modelling knife plus isonpropanol alcohol, taking great care to keep the knife blade well clear of the elements. I needn't have bothered because not long after I had the misfortune to shatter the rear window with a stone when mowing the front lawn.

I removed my dealer sticker a few weeks ago. I just warmed it up with a heat gun and slowly peeled it off.
