Whilst looking for something I discovered down by fuse box RHS of drivers seat on my VRS a 'switch' labelled 'on'. Whats it for?

I take it is in the little glove box by the steering wheel. if you push it in then it is off. It controls the air con flowing into the glove box so you can chill a can of cola. there is a swivel version in the larger glovebox too

Bottom of the 'B' pillar trim?

Bizarrely, the can "chiller" is flowed air at the same temperature as that entering the cabin, whereas the glove box is always fed chilled air.

Are you sure? I thought I read in the manual that both are fed from the normal cabin heating/cooling. The one in the glovebox certainly looks like it's just a 'hole' fed from somewhere as opposed to a switch of any kind.

It's not a switch in the can cooler - it's just uncovers a vent similar to the one in the glove box......

So both are fed from the car's ventilation system, but the one to the can "cooler" is fed at the air temperature controlled by the thermostat, whereas the glovebox one is not temperature controlled and is always fed at the coldest temperature (ie as if the thermostat was set to cold).

It's a statement! Try it by turning the air con on, the heater up to max and the fan on full. Stick your hand in the glove box (cold), and your hand in the can chiller (hot)..... My manual says something to that affect too, but mine is a 2001 car so it may have changed....

Actually, I think I'll do that anyway. I haven't even checked that the aircon works in my car yet!

It may work, but it is not very effective. The air is not very cool and a can takes up too much space to let air flow around it anyway. Nice idea though.

Sorry about the confusion I owned a VRS octy when I joined Briskoda but recently traded it in for the Fabia (cue a can of worms being opened). If possible I will change my Avatar ASAP.

I thought this was a fuse cover, so thanks for pointing it out to me. Had to have a look last night.

Also found a little shelf under steering wheel, tiny little thing it is.

And, found a compartment under the passenger seat. Any more hidden areas?

Yep, in the main glovebox the bottom of it is a false floor, there is a small compartment underneath.

There's a compartment under the driver's seat...

There's the fusebox itself - the right hand end of the fascia - which is unnecessarily difficult to get into...

There's obviously a big void in the tailgate - but I haven't got in there yet...

Just found another - if you open the right hand can cooler, it drops to an interim stop - pull it down further and the diagnostics socket is revealed - but there's sufficient space for storing something precious here...
