Sidelight Bulb

Featured Replies

Sorry to be a PITA but I am very new on this forum and to Skodas

I recently brought an 04 plate L&K estate and until last was very impressed with it

however two little things have now marred this, when I first got it the os rear tail light bulb went..bing bing went the warning buzzer..into the nearest garage , get bulb and change in 2 mins

Last night I get a snotty copper wave me over to the kerb and inform me the os front sidelight is out NO warning from the bulb failure ..so I open the handbook and it says " Cars with Xenon lamps ( mine) take to main dealer to change sidelight bulb"

Do I really need to ? how do I change this bulb

or have I really now got a car that I am not allowed to change a flipping bulb on !

If anybody could tell me how to change this bulb easily I really would appreciate it

Right enough rambling, off for a coffee then better do some w**k

Cheers

Chris

Rob

you are a star .. thanks for the link

all makes sense now, get bulb tonight and fit

( I presume its one of those capless jobbies)

Do you know if they can be changed to LED's while I am at it

Chris

Happy to help :)

Not sure about LEDs - maybe best to go for normal bulbs given that it's a bit of a hassle to change them.

One thing I keep meaning to add to the guide - put a piece of masking or insulating tape along the back edge of the bumper before removing the lamp unit to stop any accidental scratchings.

Thank you very much for the guide to changing old Octavia bulbs. Couldn't have done it without you. Manual useless as it doesn't cover my model; one of the very few moans I have about this great car.

Glad it helped :)
