Passenger door open not registering

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My Octy mk1 does not register the passenger door opening. Any ideas where I should start to look for a fix?

My main concern is that the auto-lock function could lock the keys or, even worse, a child who enters via the passenger side with no way of getting to them. Because the car does not register the passenger door opening, it triggers auto-lock after a few minutes thinking that no one has entered the car. If you've ever tried locking yourself in a Skoda with the key, you'll know only the key can get you out (the internal unlock buttons don't work if the key was used). :S

Other symptoms include: passenger door will not lock via the driver-side button (all other doors lock OK) and the internal light doesn’t come on.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Many thanks,

M.

Microswitch in the lock, or wiring between the door and the body of the car. Does the window work and does it lock/unlock correctly? If it does probably the microswitch.

Hi Trundlenut, the window works fine and the door locks via the key fob (but not the driver-side lock doors button).

There appears to quite a lot of threads on how to replace/fix the microswitch. One thread simply suggests spraying a whole can of Super Servisol into the latch. I'll try this first.

Thank,

M.

Blood hell, it worked!

I sprayed about half a can of Super Servisol in through the door latch last night. While it did nothing last night, by this afternoon the passenger door was working normally again. The car now recognises when the door is opened and the lock works.
