Well! Trying to change the spark plugs on my fathers Octavia, turned out to be a bigger job than I had anticipated. Both engine cover removed then?? Any guides on this topic available? The Haynes manual on this offers little info.

8V AKL engine code? The top cover has to come off but its just possible to get the plugs out without anymore dismantling but it is tight - I used a cheapy T handle plug spanner that was double jointed which gives a little more room.

How does the top cover come off? I was trying to wedge a screwdriver between the two sides earlier today, but stopped as I wasn't sure that it was the best way to gain access to the plugs.

Its 5 years since I sold mine, I can't remember, sorry, post a pic?

hang on op. you said in your firt post both covers are off, then in your second post you ask how to take off the cover.

once you have pulled the ht leads, you need a plug socket and a universial joint to access the plugs.its a little awkward thats all. you don't have to remove any parts to get to them.

what do you not get. i told you how to get them in a previous.

get a screwdrive and pry off the lead caps.

get a plug socket 3/8 drive and a universal joint.and an extension bar.remove the plugs.

it looks like the tools won't go in there, but they will.i've done several of these on golfs and octies.
