Custom Catback question

Featured Replies

hi guys,,,im looking for a sweeter sound from my exhaust of my 03 octavia vrs,, i have alot of stainless steel piping and stainless steel bends plus a tig welde at my disposal.. im just wondering what would a straight piped exhaust from the cat back to the rear bumper sound like,,, would it be too chavy,,???

this is exactly what im after

That doesn't sound like a 'K03s' octy, nor does it sound that impressive if im honest - just my opinion.

The DV is one of those $h!te atmospheric valves which again if it is a vRS it's wrong for a start.....

2.5" from the cat back with just one box (rear) will sound nice. Best gains (performance/sound)come with changing the cat & downpipe to either a 2.5" or 3". The latter (3") on a standard turbo'd vRS is overkill as it wont make any difference to the sound or performance.

Steve

to be fair, in terms of DV noise that's not massively dissimilar to our 1.8T Golf that's got one of those cheap AEM style intakes you get from eBay and the OEM recirculating DV
