All Terrain tyres

Featured Replies

Interesting. About time we started to see All Terrain tyres in (nearly) Yeti sizes.

With an increased radius of only 11mm they should be fine. But only one real way to find out... unless you buy a cheap 2nd hand tyre in the size and try.

According to Mike's tyre calculator link ....

Mikes Link

They might fit but the circumference is greater by 2.8 inches.

According to the data that equates to 3.4%

I reckon that would make the speedo about 50% more accurate than standard.

Graham,

The Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons just got the best rating from the ADAC etc. rating of winter tyres. They did not do nearly as well as the real winter tyres, but got an OK rating for wet, ice and snow.

If I look at the thread design, they are similar to my real Goodyear Winter tyres, but the compound is likely a bit harder. Comparing the thread design with the Toyo 4 season and off-road/road tyres, I suspect the Vector 4 seasons will be as good off-road - nice chevron "self-cleaning" style a la tractor tyres.

You CAN get them in the right size for your Yeti, and as youknow how to drive off-road with less than optimum Wellies, they should be a very good compromize.

Naturally 16 inchers would be better than 17.

Thanks for that other link. My friend who posted on the other Forum has found that the original link are a very good All terrain use tyre, although I will agree they are not as agressive as your link.

Ag,

Confusion reigns! Agreed the Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons are a good all-year-round compromise tyre, and actually what i shall probably end up with. However, because my Yeti gets used off-road quite a bit I have been looking for an All Terrain (AT) tyre and was hoping these would be suitable. It appears from further investigation that they aren't for the Yeti. My change to 16" wheels would probably have to be almost permanent, but I agree that if it was just for winter tyres then the change would be worthwhile.

I'm pretty sure Yokohama do a decent AllTerrain tyre that fits the Yeti too, just as an FYI.
