Subwoofer

Featured Replies

Well turns out my rear speakers are out and I want to replace them with a 600w subwoofer that I have, I tried connecting the subwoofer to the lines that used to connect to the rear speakers, 1 wire from the speaker to the speaker that was on the left and the other wire to the speaker that was on the right. When I turn the volume up light in the radio fade out when the bass kicks in and when i turn the volume up to a certain level the bass kinda just dies out.. What do I need to do to fix it, an amp and an capacitor or??

Regards from Iceland, Emil.

capacitor wouldnt be needed as far as im aware but id definately use an amp. headunit wont give out anywhere near enough power....could be wrong but thats my understanding!

Yeah you will certianly need an amp. You can use one with a line input and use the rear speaker wires but you would be far better off running RCA leads from the headunit.

So that would be using RCA from sub to amp and RCA from amp to headunit?

From head unit to amp, you can use speaker wire from amp to sub, just make sure it's a decent gauge.

Ok thanks, but how big should my amp be?
