Im thinking of fitting a stainless miltek de-cat system to my fabia vrs....... has anyone had any problems with eml on dash? in relation to the lamdba probe after cat and the emissions.

diesels dont have lambda probes, so no emls from decatting

Decat on a diesel will be illegal as of 2012

Milltek wont match up to standard system either (bigger bore 2.5" to 2.25"! Also complete different length

Better off with the milltek celi100 cat and milltek cat back to match! Wont be cheap!

just use your original cat and take the internals out. my decat is just an original with the box removed and some pipe welded in the centre where the box should have been :)

Sounds good! Make one for a tdi ibiza too?

im not bothered about the emissions just the eml, i can waggle it through an mot anyway so thats no problem.

You on stock turbo?

Loss of back pressure can cause turbo to overspin.... Equalling a big and expensive mess

yes its stock turbo, with remap from revo, theres many other factors that will come into play that will screw the turbo before the exhaust does.

Revo map is aggressive.... Teamed with a decat..... Could end in tears

Milltek want £300 RRP just for the downpipe with sports cat. "Luckily" I picked one up off here cheap, I just need to get it fitted and hope it isn't going to restrict enough to need another remap.

I know but to pass an mot in 2012 you'll need it

I ran a milltek cat too :)

Any idea how much work is involved with swapping the downpipe? I literally haven't even looked yet, I snapped the cat up for half the RRP when it was for sale on here and it's just been shoved to one side for now. I should get it on before Christmas though, then I can try and sell my decat downpipe to someone on eBay who might not have seen the new rules...

Maybe....

But, aggressive revo map, coupled with a decat, generally is like pulling the pin from the grenade and awaiting the boom :D

A decat on a car with a generic map or map for a car with a cat is never clever. As jase said, it'll end in tears

Thats it lad, ask a question and when people reply with certain experience they may have or have seen from other members on here, you bite their head off. Good start mate

Fair enough you didnt ask for what problems may occur regarding decat and remap, but people have been kind enough to share their experience with you and you haven't received it very well. I feel there will be a lack of sympathy if you turbo goes bang lol

think im gona leave to decat for now, dont want a blown up turbo :(, wait for the turbo kit from revo be released. :)

i wasnt having a go honestly, i ent gona fit a de cat now because of the feed back these lads and kindly given me, thanks for the advise :)

To gavin

Its 3 bolts on turbo

Two exhaust rubbers

Then an exhaust clamp to existing system

Can be done on the drive?

But as said different bore to oem system

Milltek is 2.5" as opposed to 2.25 so a reducer of sorts will be req!

:) a decat will be perfectly fine with appropriate mapping to suit as i can confirm from my own experiances. Im not sure on the bore as jason mentioned, but because mine is made from an original cat that why i am able to swap and change if i want to (ie MOT purposes)

If you could find a decat with the same diameter that would let you change when required, as well as fit an aftermarket system then this would be fine, but it sounds like a bit of a job lol :)
