When does 2012 Version start?

Featured Replies

I know this might be an obvious question but when does the updated version of the Yeti come out? By this I mean I know some of the colours have changed, I believe the Amundsen will replace the Bolero radio and there may be other subtle updates. If I am wrong about this then I am sure someone will tell me but I thought I had heard there were changes due around now.

So will the Amundsen just come in when they have run out of Bolero's then?

Bolero is on the Yeti SE according to the UK 06/11 brochure, which has the MY12 cars.

I like the Bolero as the best choice. To pay £1.500 to get a built-in navigator is a robbery.

The Bolero is still standard on many UK specs but I thought the Amundsen was going to replace it. The Amundsen has the capability, so I believe, to ultimately offer DAB as an option which is a reason why I am interested in it.

I'm curious, does the DAB broadcasts really exists?

At the moment you can not get it as an option in the UK but I believe you can get it in some European countries. The Amundsen has the capacity to cope with DAB, I presume when Skoda give the okay then someone will press a magic button and it will appear. The software must be embedded within the system ready to go, rather like a sleeper spy from the 60's/70's.

DAB already appears as an option in Audi's, VW's and SEAT's so it is only Skoda out of the family who currently do not offer it in the UK.

DAB certainly exists BUT it's reception depends on where you live/drive. It's a "line of sight" transmission so if there is any obstruction between the transmitter and receiver the results can suffer. On recent holidays in hilly regions we frequently lost DAB. North Wales in particular was very bad as it's almost impossible not to be surrounded by hills. Drivers in other areas (Lake District?)will probably offer their comments.

Having said that if it had been an option we'd have gone for it as it would be better to have an integrated unit instead of our current setup of Pure Highway with it's cables all over the place.

Nice to know, I was sure that DAB was near DOA.

It was not a success here in the North, other media sources were more popular, so it was buried very soon after testing period.

I choosed the Bolero because of the 6 CD changer. 6 CD's full of MP3's is very very much music. Ok, it could accept audio DVD's.

Be nice to have had the option of the Amundsen on the Elegance spec, would probably opted for it as the Columbus is far to expensive for my budget. The Bolero is OK but I question its reliability as with both my Yeti's I've had intermittent problems with them. The current one will not change volume in reverse and I'm occasionally getting tones from the park sensors but no bars highlight on the graphic :wonder:

Waiting for service time see if the deaf and probably blind tech at the local place will tell me he cannot find issue with it, like he did re the wife's Fabia's door rattle :wonder:

do you mean you can't alter the volume it drops to when reversing or you can't turn it up and down while reversing? The former would be a fault, the latter is a feature same as it was on the Stream that came before the Bolero

Hi,

the volume doesn't change at all selecting reverse, have tried a factory reset of the radio which drops the volume but when going from reverse to first :D

However this happened only the once :wonder:

Hi Tim

mine was the same, no volume drop when reverse selected, had a fiddle in the radio menu and managed to get the volume to drop, then had another fiddle and got it to mute in reverse.

Trying to remember how i did it but i think it was more by luck or the memory is fading with age :giggle:, it is in a sub menu of the volume control.

regards

Kevin

When I bought my last Fabia, I was persuaded by my daughter's boyfriend that DAB was a good thing, so I had a DAB radio fitted. It did give very nice clear reception, when I got a signal. There were several streets in town where it completely lost anything (but where FM would have worked), and further up the valley towards Todmorden it just had no DAB reception at all, so changed to FM. The only advantage to having DAB was access to digital channels which aren't on FM, and since I generally listen to Classic FM when working or driving, DAB made little difference. When I got my Yeti, DAB wasn't an option, but the bog-standard built-in FM radio is very good, and has great sound.

On a previous car I had a Sony unit which had DAB and also had the ability to retune itself to FM -effectively seamlessly- depending on the available signal. This was about 3 years ago.

The set up process was a bit complex but once done it was pretty impressive.

My Bolero is a very decent piece of kit and now operates an Ipod in a credible way-although it is farcical that Skoda don't supply it as an option.

I am however at a loss to know why it is sold without the ability to have DAB as an option. I can see why Czechs don't understand Cricket but Skoda UK employ staff here who have no such excuse. :dull:

People understand cricket? :o Come on pull the other one, next thing you'll be telling me I can run the Yeti on cabbage water

Does the UK broadcasting companies use DAB or DAB+? If they use DAB, it would be useless after changing to DAB+.

DAB in WIkipedia

Sure the Skoda could offer a DAB-device as an option to those countries, which have broadcasts. For so many of us the DAB is useless and FM is the technology which works like Duracell bunnies.

FM is also good in the UK but we also have some key channels on AM still and they are rubbish. It is those that that UK people really want DAB for. They are mainly sports channels and so trying to hear discussions or commentaries through hissing and crackling is very difficult. If they could transfer those to FM it would be fine but apparently there is no more room.
