Clutch pedal linkage gone :-(

Featured Replies

Not good! Clutch pedal went to the floor with a crunch, now I have a white piece of plastic it seems for the balljoint in pieces and a black tab of metal around the size of a stamp spare.

Is it salvageable with the plastic part only? What is the steel part for?

Any help would be wonderful. Maybe even part numbers.

OH - I pulled the pedal back up & it now sits higher than before.

Cheers all

This has come up before so a search should find what you want.

Here is your starter thread: http://briskoda.net/...9-clutch-pedal/

From what I have read, the metal tab that holds the plunger end can break. There is a photo guide on a Golf Mk 4 forum but can't find the link at present.

I have not had the problem myself but those that have will offer guidance for sure.

What car is it? Am on fone.

I don't remember any cables or anything like that on the clutch when I stripped the vRS? Ill dig out the pedal.

Iirc it went straight to a hydraulic piston like on the gearbox.

Mmm

Ill get back to this.

the metal bit stops the ROD (its not a cable)from pushing out the back when you depress the clutch pedal. Mine went the other day. £80 for new pedal fitted but mine is now sitting higher than the brake and is a bit wobbly side to side (I am sure it used to be more solid though)

The clutch pedal box is it's onw separate unit and pretty easy to remove. Just the pipes on the engine bay side and three nuts inside and it comes out.

Sorted. Now welded up properly by my mates garage. £40.

karl - id take it back. on the old pedal there are some inserts which could be causing the wobbling if theyve not been fitted to the new pedal from the old.

Couple of years ago the clutch pedal of my 2001 L&K hit the floor as I changed gear (too enthusiasicaly ?) Called out RAC who fixed it - c. 1 hour at roadside. Even escorted me home 4 miles. :) Dealer replaced broken bit a couple of days later. So RAC membership worthwhile.
