Electric windows

Featured Replies

HI,

have a problem with the electric front window on My Fabia est, not so much the electrics as they have been working fine but today I put the window down and heard a sort of grinding noise, after working out how to remove the door panel, I was confronted by an inner skin, which i could not remove it was clear that the pully wire was frayed and had wrapped itself around the inner plastic wheel and i cant get the window up, i have been informed that in order to remove the inner skin you must first remove the door handle and the locking mechanism which can be tricky if you dont know what you are doing and can lead to more problems, also informed that in order to fix the problem i may have to buy a complete skin with electrics etc,,seems ludicrus for a frayed/twisted cable Help please

Hi and welcome aboard.

Yep - definitiely a window regulator problem where the plastic window runners will have broken - but you don't have to buy the full skin. You can get repair kits on ebay for about £15 including wires, drum and sliders. It's then just a case of taking the inner door skin off (carrier), fixing the regulator and refitting. SHould take about an hour all in. There is a good guide on here you shoud be able to find if do a windor regulator replacement search.

Welcome along and hopefully you get it sorted..?

Forgot to say - doesn't need the door handle and lock mechanism removing - only the wiring to the mechanism which just unplugs, albeit it's a bit fiddly and the inner door handle which is dead easy!

got a fabia with window problems ,got a new plastic slider ,got it on , cables come up short by about 2 inches no amount of levering will give any movement and have tried using the electrics to wind cable in and out sounds like sand in the mechanism.
