At the top of today's list of questions to ask are a couple on light functions - or lack of.

I don't appear to have any footwell lights in my mkII VRS and don't know if I am supposed to. I have Maxidot which doesn't give me the option under lighting to change the brightness (like I can on the VW in our household). Should I have some and should they be working?

Secondly, the indicator in the driver's side mirror also doesn't work. I would have thought this would have thrown up a bulb out alert or made the indicators on that side both flash faster to show there was a lamp gone, but this also doesn't seem to be the case. Do I have a more serious problem?

Footwell lights aren't available on the vRS but they are retrofittable.

If I remember correctly fellow member 'alberg' has done this and created a 'how to' thread on here somewhere.

As the repeater in the wing mirror is an LED it is not monitored by the CANBUS system so won't flag as a problem on Maxidot.

It's not simply a case of replacing the bulb either, you'll need a complete assembly, lens and all.

Not a lot of money though and easy to replace (access gained by removing the mirror glass).

The wing mirror lighting not working, sorry can´t help you. Altough would be interresting if vagcom picks up anything. :wonder:

Thanks guys, it dud occur to me that the mirror light wouldn't flag as an error as it is LED. I ordered a new unit from TPS yesterday so will pick that up and replace it later today.

I'll look at the footwell lights how to as well.

Indicator sorted with the unit from TPS (paid less than the price I was quoted too which makes it cheaper than the local main agent). Slight panic when I thought I didn't have a T10 bit but soon found one before I spent more dosh.
