Car insurance...............me no understand

Featured Replies

To keep it brief, I've got a multi-car policy with Admiral with the Octavia, SWMBO's Fabia and the Seat

I've just rung them to change it from the £1.5k Seat to the £15k (full price) Monte Carlo, wondering how much extra I'd have to pay, and........

.......I'm due a £19 REDUCTION

Swmbo got a reduction on her policy when she added me as a named driver. Her premium went down by £50! We were confused but happy!

How much safer is the Fabia compared to the Toledo though?

It's all to do with your age :smirk:

I would imagine its down to the security/steal-ability, don't worry about it, just get out there and buy some more bling

Probably not at all - the Toledo had ESP etc, etc, the Monte's just got ABS - I know it's new, but even so, the difference in potential payout is huge

He asked me yesterday if he can take a photo of your car to school for his show and tell  He has told his teacher all about it (she owns a mk2 octavia vrs) and she thinks its funny that he knows more about it than she does

No problem whatsoever

I suspect the Fabie being a more modern car has better crumples zones etc and so better protection to both pasasangers and third parties -it injuries to flesh and blood were the high value claims come from not metal.

I'm insured with them for the retirement wagon. I only intended on insuring me but when I rang they questioned SWMBO's car, a C5. For me saying I would add it on at her renewal point I saved £500! Now to add hers on from Oct to July was way more than her anual renewal so I rung to say I wanted it taken off, expecting to pay the £500 back. No, £203.

New cars are so much cheaper to insure. I am sure this apply to most cars, a 3 years old Octavia is about 200 quid more expensive to insure than a brand new one with equivalent spec.

Could be something to do with the view that someone who buys a car for say £1500 treats it as disposible, doesn't mind that much if they wrap it around a tree.

Spending > £15k indicates a- that you're in a different socio-economic group and b- you're more likely to take care of it.
