Independent Servicing?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need to book my much loved vRS PD TDI in for it's four year service at 24'000 miles.

Two different main dealers have had the pleasure of quoting me £520 extra over and above servicing cost to have the cambelt done.

(I've seen the various forum posts on to do or not to do the cambelt at 4 years and the jury is still out on that one).

Up to now, the car has been main dealer serviced. However, independent servicing might soften the blow....so I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good independent in the Surrey area?

Particularly, has anyone used Peter Cooper Car Repairs in Byfleet and if so, were you pleased with their efforts?

Thanks

Steve

Don't know if this is too far away for you but Clarion at West Worthing were very good. Ex-main dealer, now specialist dealer, and always seemed to be fair.

I get mine done at TGM based in fleet. They have just done my cambelt last week

I've been happy with a Bosch service centre in Leeds for both our cars.

Independent garages but under the Bosch banner and approved by the OFT.

But a bit far from Surrey!! :giggle:

VW will do the cam belt and waterpump fixed for £400. The offer is for VW but there doesn't seem to be much issue with extending it to Skodas.

I had mine done at an indy for £320.

I haven't taken our Octavia to an independent yet as it's too new.

The Fabia I always have serviced at a local VW/Audi specialist.

Surrey Lodge Motor Company, based in Wraysbury, by Staines.

Good service and price. The propietor has been known to me for 30 years,

He used to work for a VW garage in Walton-on-Thames before it was sold,

he was the workshop foreman.

I have heard good reports from Wheelbase in Hersham. A couple of my friends

take their cars there and I have heard no compliants.

VAS Motion in Merrow, Guildford. Not used them but I believe the technicians used

to work for Colbournes.

I hope this helps.

Aye lad but if tha follers 'is link tha'll find at least half a dozen Bosch Centres in Surrey wherever that is - is it near Sheffield? Ah allus thowt as 'ow Sheffield were a long way off o' Leeds.

If Guildford isnt to far try these guys http://www.ahauto.co.uk/

I have used them a lot for work on the Octavias & my sons Polo

Know what they are doing & wont fleece you

There knowledge base is better than many dealers I find
