Spare key

Featured Replies

Hi Chaps, I have lost my spare flick key (the one with the plastic tag on) I know they are at least £200 from dealers, has anyone bought one lately? And does anybody know if I can just leave the main key with the dealer for them to clone or do I need to leave the car with them? Cheers.

As far as I know they need the car too so they can code the new key to the car

What a ripoff.

Google and ebay could well be your friend in this case.

Cheers for the replies chaps, the dealer does need the car for the day and wants to know if he should de-activate the lost key, it may turn up so I will probably say no although I think the dog has eaten it (He has history)

Hi I tried the Ebay route but be careful, you need a new transponder and this must be coded by the dealer . I paid £40 from fleabay and it didn't work, a brand new key coded to my car and the lost key removed from the control system so the lost key cannot start the car it could open it but not start it. dealer was Grey gables in Witney they need the car for 25 minutes. To order from the dealer you need the V5 document and another addressed item, credit card etc, they key typically takes 3-4 days to come through. Good luck Ebay may be a route if you have the SUK code and VCDS but the SUK code is not easy to get....beware of so called auto locksmiths who can get the code from the ECU they were charging £200 in Oxford.
