Ordering Discs & Pads

Featured Replies

Hi All,

So it's time to replace the brake discs and pads on my 2005 Octavia 2.0 TDI. They were actually changed out quite early in the life of the car by a Skoda main dealer and I have the receipt from the original owner, so I have some part numbers:

Front Discs - 1K0615301T

Front Pads - 5K0698151

Rear Discs - 1K0615601L

Rear Pads - 1K0698451G

I don't really see the point of using Skoda parts now and will go for an alternative brand like Pagid which I've heard is quite good.

For some reason I can't find the rear discs with the part number above, It seems the letters at the end have changed to AC rather than an I. Not sure why?

The biggest problem I'm having is using sites like Eurocarparts.com. Even with putting in my registration I get 4 or 5 options for each part and the data on the "part number it fits" tends to starts 1ZF, 1ZM which as you can see by the part numbers above means nothing to me.

Any ideas?

Dougall

Hi,

I can only be of small help to you. The 1ZF is an option code which VAG uses. You will find yours on a sticker on the service record and under the carpet in the boot. Look there and your brakes will be listed along with the codes for things like alloy wheels etc.

The codes don't mean anything to us. However, you can type them into this website Options Decoder and it will say somthing like mine.

Hope this helps:

ah OK.......so mine says 1KF for rear discs

By the looks of things neither your codes or mine contain the front ones.

Hi Dougal

Unfortunately VAG tend to mix and match their brakes, which is why there are options.

If you want to PM me your reg, i'll try to find the correct ones using the VW system :)

hope that helps

I just noticed, you already have the OE part numbers :) (D'oh!)

Thanks EuroCarParts - I ordered from you today so you've got my business :-)

By the way, really like the website and the livechat. I love the fact you can browse parts and prices at your own leisure rather than ring a local firm who throw a price at high speed and can't wait to get you off the phone as your not 'trade'.

Really happy A+++++++++++
