I have had my Fabia VRs now for just over a week, and it is my first diesel car but i have noticed a knocking/rattle sound when starting the car from cold. Not the click then squirt noise as i have found out what that was in another thread. but it's as if the oil has not got around to all parts of the engine or something. it only lasts a second or two then goes to the normal diesel rattle you should get. Does any one else experience this noise on a cold start or should i be worried??

The Fabia is a PD lump and is thus a little more "Vocal" at a cold start up then your common rail diesel lump, nothing to worry about !

it's such a fantastic little car, the only gripe i have is the noise of the diesel engine, even when warm sounds not to nice, but getting use to it.

Yeah, its quite normal to be a bit noisy on a cold start, just about every diesel will be TBH, a few seconds and it will quieten then when warm it should get quieter still unless it is idling.

Just dont park up outside some ones house and leave the engine on...people will think your a taxi!
