Hi Dave,

Vcds lite is a free down load from Ross Tech, you will need a cable which can be obtained for £20 pounds from Gendan, dont be tempted to buy one of the cheaper ones of e bay they are of very poor quality.

With vcds lite installed on your laptop you can read and clear error codes on all of the car modules, plus find out a lot of information about your car. It far exceeds any scanner you can buy.
