Time for a new mouse

Featured Replies

After almost 7 years of sterling service, my Logitech MX1000 feels like it's about on its last legs.

The shape of this thing fits my hand absolutely perfectly. Probably because my hand has now moulded itself to it, but after using countless others at work, I honestly don't think I'll find anything else that is as comfy to use.

It's wireless, and has a proper charging dock, so I don't have to faff about with batteries.

I'm trying to find a replacement, but I honestly can't see anything that looks anywhere near as good.

Just about every single wireless one which I see these days have those immensely tiny USB dongles. I can't seem to find one that has a charging dock.

Has battery life in mice come on so much that you don't need to change the batteries every week?

I don't really have a budget as I paid about £65 for this one, but I think for 7 years worth of service, that's pretty good value.

Any suggestions would be helpful :)

Not a bad idea. I've never been keen on buying eBay stuff that comes from the far east though.

I'll disassemble mine and give it a good going over with some switch cleaner before doing anything.

The battery life seems fine, I only have to charge it once a week or so, and because the cradle is powered and not just USB, I just do that overnight.

Its range has basically got shorter and shorter lately to the point where if I pull out the keyboard tray on my desk all the way, it hardly works, and that's only about 4' away from the receiver.

Right well the switch cleaner didn't really work.

Seems my luck is in though....

I've had a look in a cupboard at work that I've not been in for months, and found a Microsoft Sidewinder X8 that I'd bought for myself and completely forgotten about.

First mouse I've ever seen with a rear diffuser and neons emoticon-0136-giggle.gif
