what to expect from 230-234bhp

Featured Replies

Aye mine was a stage2 hybrid... Was plenty quick enough

The proof would be me now having to catch a bus everywhere.....

No where near quick enough tbh

You're looking at an absolute max of 230bhp really, unless you get quite a few other mods to help with air delivery or the mapping is requesting too much boost. Expect a 60mph time of about 6.5, quarter mile of about 14 flat (depending on conditions) and top speed of 145 to 150. Personally I just like the in-gear speed of a tuned car. Have a verified 30 to 70 in mine of 4.1 seconds with a gearchange. :D

My standard BLT managed a 6.68 to 60 and a 15.30 1/4 so I would expect anything with over 200 BHP to be mid 5s (traction depending) and high 13s on the 1/4.

Off topic a bit I know, but can anybody with a tuned vRS do this one day when they are not on a public road..

40 to 100 in 4th (well, 97ish or whatever the indicated speed it).

Not an exact science by any means, but mine was about 10 seconds dead. It would be very interesting to compare to even just a mapped car, let alone one of these crazy ones.

This wasn't my best run. This was 14.3 seconds on a windy day, best is 13.6.

But gives you an idea how it picks the power up once rolling.

Yeah, that's not playing games!

Nope. :D

I think it's between 5 and 5.5 seconds to 60mph and about 12 or so to 100mph.

That would tie in with a quarter mile time of 13.6 as speed builds slower after around 100.

Terminal speed at 13.6 second quarter mile was 104.46 mph.

Mine's bigger than yours, ner, ner!

Didn't way it wasn't. Just discussing performance.

Sorry I don't get involved in willy waving... with a forum moderator. ;)

You should try get some slicks (you can buy ex race car ones, but would need different front alloys) or at worst 888s.

For every .1 you take off the 60ft its abotu .2 at the end. So get .25 off your 60ft and your knocking on the 12s.

Next time its dry outside try this....

Change into 2nd at about 3700. I've just watched your vid several times and its reminds me very much of my friends turbo Golf that was running 240 BHP. Peak power was about 5800 or something but we found rather than emptying 1st it gave huge improvemetns in time changing really early (about 4500 in the golf).

It sort of killed the wheel spin, kept boost and put you instantly back in a load of power. All the rest of the changes were then normal high ones.

We knocked about .3 straight of the 1/4 time doing this.

Yes I've still not perfected my quarter mile runs. As you can see on this run it span up and hit the limiter in 1st, which is probably a decent explanation as to why I was in the 14s. Shame this was the last one and the only one I had the camera set up for.

I run 888s on the car already.

That's the only tyres I've got.

Change at 3700 next time - I bet you 50p you set a personal best.

Fastest time would be starting it 2nd surely?

I've been told it's not very good for the car?

No, I dont think it very sympathetic to the running gear, but a decent clutch set up should cope, but then there`s the next weak link, drive shaft, gearbox, something else. In fairness, if your only going up the strip for enjoyment then its not needed I guess, personally I dont feel the need to, but if your going for getting the ultimate fast time then it`d be worth a go.

2nd gear starts are harsh, but you have the mods and clutch to cope with it fella.

Doing it often will cause your clutch and smf to die quicker, but just on track days will probably lead to your fastest times.
