light warning light and strange happenings with me lights

Featured Replies

i have searched through threads etc. me warning lights been on since i bought the car, rear right sidelight doesn't work but fog does. brake lights are fine apart from the high third brake light isn't working. gonna change me front sidelights as thier flickering and couldnt be affecting sidelight. any ideas on high level? checked fuses and all ok. any help would be grateful :)

the high level brake light may well be the switch on the brake pedal - IIRC the 4 pin version switches 2 circuits - one for the main brake lights and a seperate one for the high level light.

if that has failed it would give this problem and the light warning.

its only about £12 and easy to fit (did mine a couple of weeks ago) only problem is getting off the cover to get at it.

Brake switch failure on diesels normally throws the glowplug light.

the OP did say the warning light was on - is there another bulb warning light? only ever had the glowplug flashing for a light problem.

not disagreeing just curious

Just the bulb light on not glow plug. Ah brilliant wil get one and give it a change and will hopefully do it. Need to work out why the right sidelights not working haha

All three brake lights are switched off one circuit of the switch, the other circuit is an input into the engine management system, so it can do things like cut the fuel when you are braking and switch the cruise control off, hence why the glow plug light can come on when the switch fails.

The high level brake light fault could be a broken wire where the loom routes through from the body to the tailgate.
