mk II 2007/2010 Headlamps

Featured Replies

As the title says I'm closely looking at the difference in shape and they look identical apart from the pupil being pushed to the edge?

Am I correct to believe the top edge of the facelift is slightly more angled towards the grill? But the wing and base edges remain the same?

Could anyone clarify for me please?! :-)

Well I have both mk2 faces pre and facelift headlights 08 and 60 plate fabia and the headlight in the later is totally different, longer sweep towards the grill

So if you was to replace the front of the fabia you'd need new lights, bumper, bonnet and grill set then :)

Thanks for your help

Are the lights on the facelift any better? (in terms of lighting!)

NO!! The standard bulbs headlight design is terrible, that's why I've changed all the bulbs, she now has 4 ultra H7 xenon filled bulbs and LEDs sidelights plus the DRLS are now LEDs ;)

As far as I know there is two different headlights. One with a single projector that alters the focal distance for high/low beam (wifes roomie -07)

And then at least on my fabia -11 headlights with one projector for low beam and one reflector for high (on each side).

Here the real perfomance gain is that low beam can be optimized for low and when hitting high beam both low and high are used to create a wider/longer light pattern.

In a direct comparison the single projector headlight really suck

I've specced the projector curve headlights they work well but the light is just not good enough, dangerous even

I agree! Don't know why Skoda decided to use such a poor projector? There is definitely better projectors, like the ones Volvo or Saab use.

I believe that even the octavia has better dipped beam? Maybe the way to go is to retrofit automatic leveling and some S2000 xenon projectors. (it's legal in Sweden with automatic leveling)

So in summary the new lights on the facelift models are better but still not very good?

Now i have too disagree about the lights of FL model.

Just been out in an Volvo V70N, a car with wellknown good dipped and high beam.

My fabia isn`t far of the same beam pattern och length of throw.

Actually i`m rather impressed of the light, of course it still looks lika a candle compared to a car with bixenon setup....

But, my wifes Roomster 2007 with single projector is a different story, awful light! It throws about the same amount of light on high beam as my fabia does on dipped.

Don`t know wich way too go here, Nightbreaker, a set of Hella 3003, or try to retrofit FL lights too her roomie....

Na, there is a forum called "hidplanet dot com" some of the guys there use a projector named S2000, great beam pattern and throw!

I'm really struggling to understand everyones gripe about the headlamps.

ive a 08 pre facelift with projector headlamps and I think there not bad at all.comparing to my wife's brand new megane there brilliant.the megane has reflector headlamps and there mince.

The Mk1 Headlights in the higher models with 4 relectors were excellent. My wife's old 1.9tdi with four Osram nightbreakers fitted were the best halogen headlights I've used.

The Mk2 Pre-facelifted projector/reflector are OK but not as good as the Mk1.

The Mk2 Facelift projector/relector units have switched the position of the units around have slightly better projectors for dip beam and the reflector high beams are mush better.

Not tried the entry model reflector only units or the single projector for high/low beam units of the monty/vRS.

My Passat has projectors for dip beam and they are not as good as either Mk2 Fabia but the high beams are in a different league, they are very powerfull I've only had Cibies on rally cars that have been better.

Looking at our two Fabias the wings, bonnet, grill, bumber and lights are all different.

Cheers
