Anyone actually retrofitted oem xenon hid?

Featured Replies

So maybe yet another thread asking the same information ;-) but this time I'd like to know if anyone here has actually done it, gone the whole hog and even fitted a replacement bumper with washer jet, etc.

Reason is fairly obvious - I'm contemplating it and would like to know if there are any gotchas borne of experience.

Search through my previous threads...

Ive retro fitted oem xenons, but not the washer system...yet. The self leveling is a no no as theres no loom for it. Washers should be easy if you get the kit (washer bottle, pipe, pump, jets) and a bumper.

Washer system is a pain to fit to be honest. The easy bit is the locating of the pumps and washer jets and bottle. The harder bit is wiring it in to work properly using a relay and actually getting the jets to squirt together successfully. The latter of which I still haven't got right as they're pressure activated!

I've retro fitted the whole lot onto the vRS estate i built inc level sensors and wash system.

When i got under mine i couldnt find any loom, nor under the rear seats or in the boot?

Really worth looking around. Though technical knowledge is a bit, well bitty on this subject over here. Ideally you'd get the projector headlights from German eBay or similar and switch the projectors around the RHD from LHD. This is the first knowledge gap. Not knowing the model of the projectors means you don't know if they have reversible cutoffs.

If someone had a knackered OEM Xenon headlight they could extract the projector.... <hint>.... then we'd know...

You wont, Skoda dont fit looms for parts that arent fitted at factory.

The uk ones have the beam director (dont know the techncal term) inside to alter the direction. If the LHD ones dont have this option i know i can get the part resonably cheap to convert them ;)

There were some on eBay a while ago, new.
