Coilovers, budget or splash out?!

Featured Replies

Had a browse through the topics on here, but not really been able to make a decision, so once and for all, is it worth me splashing out £400+, or is the ride comfort and quality just as good with FK's. I had JOMs on my golf, and they really weren't that bad!?

Cheers!

what is the price difference? Iv got weitecs and they are great. Worth £450 imo

Although if your just going to slam it as low as possible ( ) then would it be worth spending extra on ride comfort as they wont be amazing what ever the make if its on its ar*e

If you just wants lows mate get JOM :)

i cant say a bad word about my joms tbh

Joms it is then I think! Cant say I had any issues with mine on the golf.

Did you have to change the drop links when you fitted yours wilsy7?

I scouted around for ages to find some mid-range coilovers second hand and eventually came across some APs on Ebay, which I got for around £250. I've had lowered cars before, but never lowered one myself, but I can honestly say the APs are great for the price. I think Gareth_1.8T was selling some new-ish Weitecs recently, I'm not sure of they sold or not, but he was after around £250. Not sure of this helps, but there's my input anyway :)

I was going to get some jom coilovers, but splashed out and got kw's instead :D

I bought some vmaxx and although at times they can be stiff on a very bumpy road i am happy i got what i paid for, if i were doing a lot of track days then i would consider paying out but if its more of a cosmetic thing you are going for with the odd occasional spirited drive then you should be fine with coilovers around the 300-400 mark.

Spend the extra £££'s and get KW's you wont regret it!

Cheers, I ended up going for the JOMs, the cars only used to get to work and the gym which is all fairly smooth road and looking to sell up in a year or so, hence not reallllyyy wanting to splash out lol!

Will I be needing to change the drop links once the coils are on??

Yes. Mondeo ones are about £14 from a motor factors
