I guess its quite a common thing to happen?

How should I get it off? Rubbing with a rag dipped in diesel seems to work a bit, but is going to take a very long time!

It's all down one side of the car too, and the roof and the rear bumper

What works People?

Cheers

Autosmart Tardis...Rubbing will scratch your paint

OR

Use a clay bar

OR

White spirit dabbed on and left for 10 mins will see it off

I use autosmart's 'Tardis' then clay the whole car to make sure none is left on.

Don't have to be tardis, there are plenty other tar removers out there.

WD40 should shift it,

so should petrol.

I used a cloth soaked in diesel so it is dripping then applied to paintwork and the tar virtually runs off the paintwork, no rubbing needed!. Was way easier than I expected. Diesel comes off the car easily with a power washer afterwards. Hands are another matter though!

You will then need to reseal and wax your car

The most annoying thing is I had done that 4 days prior to the tar going on! A job for next week end...

If that is the case then removing the tar will be easier than a non protected motor........

Hammer and a chisel....just as good as t cut :D
