fabia 1.4mpi 52 reg sunroof

Featured Replies

we have a skoda fabia 1.4mpi 52reg and the sunroof has just been changed under warranty as it didn't seal properly and leaked. Now a new sunroof is in and to our surprise its leaking again but this time we don't suspect the seal with the glass but more the seal with the unit to the actual roof. is this a common problem and has anyone come across it and sorted it out as its driving us insane!!

helppp please :)

Mike

I am guessing there was only ever the electric sunroof fitted to Fabias? Think it's the same one used in Octavias too. There are 4 water drain hoses. Two at the front go down to the A pillar and you can see them when the doors are open where the hinge mechanism is. And two at the rear, which appear to end somewhere behind the rear wheel arch trim at the back end of the car. Skoda service manual says these can be cleaned with a 2300mm long bowden speedometer wire, and says to clean from the top for the fronts, and the bottom for the rear. It says the hoses must not be removed. I'd give that a go first, as if water does not drain out using the drains, then it would likely enter the car.

To do anything more involved requires removal of the headliner which is quite involved.

I figure if it's been done under warranty there is a warranty still applying?

Oh just to check it's not condensation is it? Are the rear carpets dry?

yes there is warranty still outstanding on it, i have read that before elsewhere. But also someone mentioned taking the sunroof and lifting it out a small amount whilst applying a small bead of sealant for parts that sit sunroof to metal if you get me. We will be ringing up the dealership tomorrow and seek further advise of them, im just getting prepared incase they cant solve this issue.
