I do think they have come on though as a car maker in general and it is far better car than many similar makes.I would much prefer any model skoda to ford, peugot, citroen etc and they are all similarly priced.

You get VW/ Audi engined car remember for a lot less than a VW or Audi and I like the engines.Big selling point :D

yeah i agree with what your saying but with a Golf Gti

Hmm, Evo 260 looks good for similar money :D

I know they're expensive to run, but an imported WRX will only run you

i wonder if they will keep it the spec it was before as it wasnt the ranger topeer with the octy I. i would say skoda MUST keep it below

On a more serious note ' date=' a 2.0TDI elegance is 16.4k , so 17k wouldn't be too bad an increase for the sportier bodywork.[/quote']

This is a good point.A good looking sporty octavia with 2.0 diesel and lots of kit will be an attractive proposition.

Maybe I'm getting old but the new vRS would have to really blow me away as much as my current one did.Something over and above the opposition golf , leon etc with all of it's previous qualities, speed, looks, bhp, price etc

If not,a sport with a diesel would do me just fine.

Price will be everything for the vRS or the sports will sell rather well(for a year or so when a low mileage new vRS at

well as we now know , the Sport doesn't have quite all the toys that the elegance does in much the same way that the current vrs wasn't an exact match for any of the other models.

It still has quite a lot of gadgets though and I expect it will sell quite nicely to company car buyers when you look at what else they can get in that size range for 17k

Been on to Skoda lreland,, and there is NO talk of an Octavia Sport being added to the current line up. l asked about the "optical styling kit", to be informed that these are not available as factory fit options, but are bought as after market parts (all-be-it from your skoda dealer). In Ireland, prices are as follows.

Front bumper spoiler 420.97 euro

Rear bumper spoiler 368.34 euro

Boot spoiler 137.21 euro

Exhaust end piece 48.50 euro

total parts cost 975.02 euro

Add to this the cost of painting and fitting, prob another 1,000 euro

So to spec up an Elegance 2.0TDi, 28,945 euro to anything like the spec ye get in the UK as standard, add 674 for 17inwheels and lowered suspension, 244 for cruise control, light assist 83, alarm 251, heated front seats 260, multi function s/wheel 187, metalic paint 480, and the 2000 for the styling kit

33,124 euro

----------------------

In this,, no parking sensors, no stereo upgrade, no leather. There are a lot of car's around for this kind of money, 35,000 will get the "basic" Golf GTi, and tho it is the basic model, it is a fine car, and is sure to hold its value alot better than a diesel Octavia, all be it a speced up 1.

Me thinks me has much thinking to do right now

I'm thinking that second hand Legacy Spec-B estates are going to be around

Let me put it like this....

I love Skoda. I think they're great.

But you know how people say
