Winter wheels. but what spacers would I need?

Featured Replies

Hello all

I am looking for some really cheap wheels to go on the vRS over winter with some winter rubber on them.

Now as a few know I cant just pop anything on as I have LCR Brembos on ;)

Few pics of the multiple sets of wheels I have:

Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2 (8x18 et35) Falken 452. 225 40 18 [3mm spacers needed front and back for tracking]

LCR Ronal (7.5x18 et38) Falken 452. 225 40 18 [NO SPACERS]

Black Spiders (7x17 et38) Toyo t1R. 225 45 17 [5mm spacers front and back]

Thoes are the rims I have to choose from but they all have good tyres on atm appart from 2 of the TD's which Ive taken 2 off to put on the LCR rims as 2 came with good 452's and the other 2 came with mixed so did it to match them all up.

I am thinking of getting either 16" vRS alloys or even some Fabia 16" alloys? or even another set of cheap 17" spiders?

I need to know tho what spacers Ill need to use?

I dont wanna faf about with the LCR rims as soon as the Falken 452's are worn out Ill be getting them refurbed back to silver and putting some reasonable long lasting tyres on for the everyday drive.

The spiders I have now will be used in the summer as fun wheels/alternative as they have Toyo t1Rs on and they are good grippy tyres, when they are worn out they will be replaced with 205 50 17 Toyo t1R for fuel and speedo reasons(get much better mpg with the correct tyres)

Depending on the quality of the new winter rims depends on wether I get them refurbed in silver or light anthricite and use instead of the black spiders and use the black spiders as winters.

Finally selling the TD PR 1.2.

You're a nutter with a wheel fetish! :p

Are you sure 16" will fit even with spacers?

dont know mate, I hope so?

would prefer 17 tho in std silver lol, saw a vrs with std ones on and OMG makes me wish Id never sold mine back in 2007. they were mint! proper MINT and I sold them for £250  Richard head springs to mind! No offence intended to rich tho :wonder:

If you were near me you could try one of my 16 x 6.5 inch Elegance alloys with a 10mm H@R spacer for size before I get em on for winter... pretty sure I read you need minimum 17 inch for the LCR caliper though, regardless of spacing...

cheers mate, sounds about right

I can confirm the LCR brembo's won't fit with 16" alloys

205/50R17 on Spiders is a good option for winters. iirc you may still need a 5mm spacer.

yea spiders need the 5mm. Cheers 17" rims it is then. just need a straight cheap set now.
