Fault Codes and ECU memory

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Ok so my car is going into the main dealer on Monday to be have the glow plug warning light, high use of coolant and the main gearbox oil seal leak looked at as its still under Skoda warranty.

The glow plug warning light only only flashes every now and then. For example its been flashing for the last 2 days, but could extinguish by tomorrow or maybe the day after, then it will randomly come back on. (Nothing obvious seems to trip it) My question is, if the light isn't flashing on Monday, will the fault codes be stored in the ECU? (Bloody hope so!)

Also, when I took it to JKM Motors in Portsmouth (Independent VAG specialist)they suspected the car had been remapped (A quite aggressive one at that apparently (Revo?)) Now I haven't had the car remapped, and the first question I asked was had it been remapped, to which the reply was "No" Not having driven any other vRS for any prolonged period of time, I just accepted this as truth. How likely are the dealers to notice if its been remapped? (If it even has been mapped!)

I have a feeling the dealers will try and pull the wool over my eyes just to get out of the work and I just want to make sure I have all areas covered!

Any help will great!

Thanks in advance

Just don't accept any of their bs. Be an awkward customer & demand the fixes!

Best advice I've heard all day! :giggle:

While I'm at it, anyone know if I'm entitled to a hire car? I have to travel quite a way to the dealer, don't fancy the 3 mile trek to the station and being without my car during my week off work!
