Yeti electric folding mirrors.

Featured Replies

Can anyone who has a recent Elegance confirm does it have electric folding mirrors and if so how do they work, is it from a switch or automatically when you operate the central locking.

I'm concerned as I have had a costly experience with these when they froze solid, destroying the motor.....£550.

Is that on the X5? Ours also broke - seems like a design flaw - just left it as it is now.

Yes was the X5, all singing one too, electrochromatic, puddle lighting, heated, kerching, kerching, ££££.

Don't want them on my SM.

Yup definitely can see why you are sceptical about them. I prefer not to have them on a car now, unless it is Japanese - I think all recent Elegance (possibly from Sept 2011) has electronic folding mirrors. Unless you have a small garage or live in a city, then I would try and avoid it.

Do you know how they work, switch it off the central locking?

Can anyone help?

I think they are an option if you opt for the electric seats.

If you don't have leccy seats you won't get leccy mirrors.

Hope that helps from a 2010 Elegance owner emoticon-0105-wink.gif

I was led to believe that they were now standard on an Elegance but here's hoping not.

ALL 2012 elegance models come with them regardless of seats. They don't have to fold though, you can toggle the wing mirror switch to the fold position and they will fold, or if you hold down the lock button on the key fob, first the windows and sunroof close and then the mirrors fold. If it's freezing then leave well alone.

Domhnall, thanks, feel better knowing I'll have se control over them.

Indeed, as Domhnall states, you are in total control of the movement (from the switch - I've never used the fob :dull: ). I haven't used them since the summer.

Puddle lights are good too

I have folding mirrors in the recent Citroen. No problems at all here in Finland, not even on winter time. We "suffer" snowing four-five months a year and we have varying temperatures from plus 5 to minus 30.

I'm getting those to the Yeti as well, don't think that the solution from VAG could be worse that from PSA.

Citroen has a switch not to fold. If I understand, the folding behaviour can be modified from the Maxi-DOT Setup.

Completely disabling them would be good... it was my wife that deatroyed the passenger folding mechanism on my X5 when she decided to fold the mirrors in on the driveway of all places, it was about -19 at the time and they were frozen solid, fortunately the drivers side released.:(
