Radio Wiring advice

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone can advise me on the wiring that feeds to the Skoda Symphony Radio. I have fitted a new radio and it is working fine but before I push all the housing from my new radio back, I was wondering if there is any chance of getting a permanent live fed to the radio so that it can be played without the key in the ignition.

I would have thought that this should be possible as the original Symphony unit could be used without the keys in the ignition, so I am assuming that there is a permanent live feed already in place in the wiring loom that connects to the radio.

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter

Check your new stereo wiring diagram, the permanent live and switched feeds will need to be swapped over. Also make sure that the diagnostic wire for the Symphony is NOT connected to anything on the new stereo.

Thanks for the reply

I did try swapping the red and yellow wires on my Sony radio which seem to hold the memory pre-sets, but this does not seem keep the radio on after the ignition is turned, I must be missing something

I did not know about the symphony diagnostic wire, please can you tell me what colour this is, and where it can be found. The only wires I saw were in the radio loop iso connectors. I did buy and iso connector off Ebay, but it did not work so I just used the iso connector supplied with the Sony unit and it works OK, only without the power on when the ignition is off, which some people prefer anyway.

Thanks again for any advice
