FL or not FL

Featured Replies

I am most certainly confused at the moment. Having just entered the Octavia way of life, I have a desire to alter and change a few things about the car. It's down on the V5 as "Octavia SE TDI" estate, fine. However, when it comes to sourcing, certainly cosmetic bits and bobs, that a great deal is mentioned about FL. I have no idea if mine is an FL model. Can anyone tell me at what point in history, i.e. engine/frame numbers if that's the way to do it, that the FL came into being. I have browsed the forums and come across a number of cars that appear to be pre-FL but fitted with FL items. I know that certain options are factory installed as extra's etc, but is there a generic point in history where FL became "the norm". Cheers.

The facelift (FL) gets new headlights.

I think it was introduced during 2009.

This is the vRS but this should be enough for you to tell which one you have.

FL on top, pre-FL on the bottom...

There are other minor modifications such as the instrument clusters and heater controls, larger wing mirrors, different font for the 'Octavia' boot badge and the reflector in the rear light cluster is replaced with a clear strip.

The standard options seem to change every 3 months or so.

AIUI you can tell a FL model by the headlight change early 2009 (FL are partial wraparound)

Silver, cheers for the phots, it's definately had a facelift!! SWMBO is going to rue the day that she mentioned fitting a center armrest. Now I know what to look for, the sky's the limit ( as far as the bank lets me anyway!)

P&N, the headlights are the give away, and mine have "Octavia" running down the side on the inside to boot.

Cheers fellas.

I created a how-to guide for fitting a centre armrest, if you look through my content for topics started by me you should find it. If not I'll get it later when I'm not browsing on my mobile.

Come to think of it, it might even be linked in my sig below.
