Peugeot 306 GT6 (GTi in uk?)

Featured Replies

not mine but i got to burn the crud out of it for a couple of years

It was a belge import and so unrestriced, 220km/h and a pant wetting 270km/m once when i got cut up trying to cross lanes around Lyon :(

anyone done the periferique?? "MOTORWAYS CROSS" and you got 300m to do from the slow into the fast with all the lorries trying to get from the fast to the slow..........

options;

die

be quick

go 100kms out of your way as you lost your chance

drive like a demented nutter (me there then)

she was HOT, and i do mean even a 911 ate dust trying to keep up :) It did feel good, but it took off, think it was 200bhp? anyway 0-120kms in 1st, then slam her in 6th and take off....... and no giving up either! There was nothing on the car to indicate what it was (the insurance demanded badges be removed), it looked like a normal 306 but it was lower and the wheels wider, thats why i had so many 'knobs' thinking it was some DIY gutless wonder trying to race me. the allllll lost!

The noise however was a constant roar, which annoyed me, the only time that changed tone was to hammer her and hear the air being sucked in at a huge rate............... at same time it was actually possible to see the fuel gauge drop :(

she ate valves about every 2000kms, the electronics box was a b-'atch, and the gearbox gave up twice (all meshed together)

all the same visited UK with her and OH the fun to be had  :P

speed cameras??? I know they went off, but its got french plates on so ..... :)

but at around 300kms a tank!!!!!!!! and that was 52L it was so expensive to drive.

fun but i would not have wasted MY own money buying it!! the internals, although all leather, the finish was a tad crappy with screws on show, and various bits fell off from time to time.

anyway 0-120kms in 1st,

thats like 75mph right ??? and think they had a 180bhp output

gotta add

my amte said i could have the car if i wanted it

and EVERY, and i do mean EVERY UK insurance refused to even quote me :(

i told them they could naff off as to keep it insured in france means i got full EU coverage 356/356days no matter, and ANYone could drive it!!!! insured or NOT! they must have hated me?

drove a 911 once, was good, lots of noise, but nothing like the Rapid. 1.3 and 2.2 yet the Rapid was faster?????????

it was black!!

220 max no it shot past that, the speedo went to 350 i think? the owner said he'd got 220 out of it, i got to about 270ish, as i almost shat myself and had to pull it back.

insurance even in france was about 1000 a month :( about the same in petrol too

it has GPS as std i remeber that as it kept goofing up and swaping languages on me :(

only one tail pipe however. the wheels about 14" thick, but that was set TWO!! as the others got nicked in Paris  you had to keypad a number to get the ignition to work. that was std fit stuff, so cant say how it equates to the UK models? it was a GT6, not GTi or GTi6

was fun all the same :D still like my skodas.... do miss the fact you cant JUST overtake, but have to have a bit of a run at it :) but as you say yes it was french, crud internal fittings, and the engine was so annoying as the pitch of the engine never changed tone only got louder. and trust me a 1000km round trip and you wanted to get out of that car !

What have you been smoking? (Apart from tyres)

The stock GTi-6 was exactly as stated by Leon. The Rallye version was the same powerplant for every market. There was an even more extreme french version which did away with the PAS too (UK Rallye lost AC). The GT6 is a very different beastie

There were some references to the GT6 but only turning up in very obscure places. It appears to have a modified engine probably to ETC spec, this would tally up with 250km/h top speed.

I used to have a GTi-6 and did love it dearly.

well france only had the S16 at the time, and when the electric box of tricks through a wobbly i know peugeot france had to wait to get software.

My mates not with us anylonger :( i'd had been able to ask him. I know it was a 1998, and anytime anything went wrong the garages always thought S16.... GTi etc, until they were told GT6, then they had to get the books out! you got me thinking now, i think i should try to find out the differences .
