Clutch On Skoda Fabia Diesel

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just took delivery of a 61 plate skoda fabia scout 105bhp in white.

I am amazed at how heavy the clutch pedal is, it is really springy when letting the pedal come up and hard to press down. I am comparing the pedal with my last car a renault clio and an 08 plate old shape fiesta, both were 1.4/1.5 diesels so similar in engine size etc

Am i the only one with this opinion, and will the pedal loosen up with time/mileage. What is a pleasurable car ride is spoiled for me with the clutch. My foot is aching already and I have only done 25 miles around the town.

My dealer also reckons £10 worth of fuel gets you 100 miles out the car, I somewhat dont believe that, unless someone wants to put me right on that

I get around 190 miles to 20 quid...

as for the clutch, for my 105 tdi its pretty light, almost lighter than my old 1.4 petrol fabia....

I am aware that the older 100bhp diesel had quite a heavy clutch and gear change to that.

No problems with my clutch in my 105hp tdi fabia.

As for the fuel, I suppose it depends how much you pay for a litre. I just got 663 miles from 44.08 litres.

So that's 15.04 miles per litre. I paid 140.9 when I filled up, so £10 gives me 7.1 litres, or 106 miles of range.

Still a stupid way to express fuel consumption mind. Its like the dimwits who ask how far a car will go on a tank, without first asking the size of the tank!!!

Aye £10 gets you around 100miles, but all depends how much you pay per litre and how much lead you have in your slippers, I have both the 1.4tdi and the 105 crtdi engine and they are are both fairly light, however I used to do weights so it would be light for me anywayemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

kiansdad, clutch pressure seems to vary from individual car to car. This affects all manufacturers too. If it doesn't improve, and it probably will, speak to your dealer about it. I recently had a Fabia 1.2TSI 105 for the day and the clutch on that needed two feet on it to operate it and if it were mine I would have been complaining. It had done only 800 miles though. First Skoda I've ever driven like it. My 1422cc PD TDI is light and smooth as butter (that's warm butter, not just out the fridge!).

Compared to my previous Audi with the 1.9TDi PD engine the 1.6 TDi CR clutch is significantly lighter but still gives me leg ache in a long traffic queue / jam.

I've no experience of your previous cars but a few years ago I test drove a Mazda Premacy and the clutch on that was both very light and sharp.

£10 of diesel at my local price is about 1.6 gallons.

If that took you 100 miles the mpg would be 62.5 which I would easily achieve cruising at a steady 60mph even probably 65mph on a motorway as I get about 60mpg on a long motorway run averaging 70mph. However on a long cross-country run on mainly single carriageway roads so slowing down for junctions, passing through towns etc I typically get just under 60mpg. I hope my mpg will improve a little more once there are 10k miles on the clock.

Leg pain must be sitting in wrong position ??

Leg pain must be sitting in wrong position ??

Yes - sitting in a queue not travelling at speed a few miles further down the road

Seriously maybe although otherwise the position I have is comfortable. Any change would be height or backrest angle not position on the runners.

Hi all,

Newbie to the forum, I was googling on clutch pedal issues with Fabias and found this very thread! I was interested in the comment about leg pain and incorrect seating position.

I've had a Fabia 1.4 Tdi since new (Feb 2010) and have had problems with the clutch pedal and seating position since day 1. As I had a shoulder and back injury when I bought the car (bad timing!!), I always assumed that I was the problem, rather than the car.

My shoulder and back issues have finally been sorted, and I can now identify that the problem is the car. The position of the clutch pedal (much higher than the other 2 pedals) means that my left leg and hip are in an awkward position, especially in city driving with lots of gear changes. I get pain in my lower back as well as my leg and hip, which goes away if I'm not driving - so the car is definitely the culprit.

Since I'm only 5ft 2in, with short legs, I have to sit very far forward to even reach the pedals!

I've moved the seat (up, down, forward and back!) to no avail, so my question is - can the clutch pedal be adjusted/lowered to make driving more comfortable?

Ta!

I`ve had my 1.6tdi cr se 75hp for a couple of weeks. It was a 4k demo 11 reg. My last fabia was 1.9sdi. I had a recent new clutch on the sdi and this was very light.

The tdi clutch seemed heavy at first but now I do not even notice it. Done about 500 miles.
