Yet Another Possible DMF Failure

Featured Replies

Think my DMF is on its way out,car(07 vrs se) has started to vibrate very slightly when coming to a stop and noticed a slight noise/rattle when idiling this morning :(

Also seem to have a slight pulsing feeling through clutch pedal when pressed approx 1-2 inches down, rattly noise dissapears completely when clutch fully down.

Car only has 54,000 miles on the clock and i havent abused it in the time i've had it,dont floor it in lower gears or below 2200rpm. Gets a proper warm up and cool down for turbo too.

Oh and its a totally standard car(not remapped).

So does this sound like classic DMF failure....hope not or everyones getting an i.o.u. in their xmas cards this year :giggle:

When mine went it was really noticeable when

decelerating in gear without braking.

For example, in 5th gear doing 70,

foot off gas, engine braking down to 50

sounded like someone shaking a tin full of nails

under the bonnet.

Not cool.

If you have to buy one, take a look at the Eurocarparts

forum as they offer a pretty hefty 25% discount on the

clutch/dmf kits. I think mine was about £350 all in for a sachs

oe spec replacement clutch and dmf kit plus a

LUK concentric slave cylinder. I paid £250 for fitting

at my then local indy.

Not a cheap job mate...

Haven't noticed anything like that but i'll try it tomorrow and report back, cheers fella

My car when sat in traffic in neutral with no clutch engaged does seem to shake the car a bit, DMF on way out or engine mount? No nasty noises either, I do have a superpro dogbone bush to be fitted so may try fitting that first to see if it eradicated the problem. Cars only done 35000 miles lol.

Its a compelte joke.

Mine is on its way out, making noises and vibrations at 50k. The clutch is like new so the car has not been abused.

I'm going to go act dumb at the dealer and get it done under warranty at some point in the coming weeks.

That and about £500 worth of other bits that are broken. I'm never buying VAG again, they are just too unreliable.

Sounds more like a porker. You had it from new ?

Any verdicts or opinions at all?

i blew my clutch and flywheel up at 37k miles so there not very good

although i am a 'special' case :giggle:

Mine is starting to get a little noisy but no vibrations, having said that ive done 50k in the last year and thats with learners behind the wheel! If you guys heard some of the drama the other instructors i chat to in the test centre have with there new peugeots, renaults and the typical learner cars youd laugh your heads off! My fabia is by far the best car ive had, and yes its had consoles but apart from that nothing thats not consumables. ill run it into the ground theres simply nothing new that comes close for me! anyway........DMF kits wheres the cheapest for the proper sachs one?
