Power steering failure

Featured Replies

pulled into a car park today and the power steering stopped working , started the car up again afew minutes later it was working ok.

got afew weeks warranty left but what do you think would cause this , found the steering angle sensor in a search- this maybe??

What age is it and what engine?

I've had the steering angle sensor changed on the Fabia but got the warning light only not failure of power assistance.

Cheers

fabia sdi 02 , didnt notice any lights, just loss of power steering a bit worrying if its intermitant.

Then id say its either a flat battery of a steering angle sensor fault.

Get it to your dealer to be investigated while you still have warranty cover. Even if they don't find anything wrong, you will be in a stronger position to ask Skoda UK to pay for it to be fixed if it fails again after the warranty period is up.

cheers , its in for the 50k service this week i will try and get it in sooner let them check it out , think the battarys ok though but it is nearly 3yrs old ( first battary failed in week one)

Get it replaced - bound to be the pump and you really don't wanna end up paying for that yourself ;)

mmmm just had the service and the steering checked out , result = new steering rack on order , leaking apparently. could an air lock be the reason for the failure ? i thought the assistance was electrical?
